The Montagne Farm came online and was producing electricity on September 18, 2007.

Location: St. Albans, Vermont

History: Owner David Montagne grew up on his grandparents' farms until his parents bought a farm in 1965. When his parents bought and moved to another farm in 1975, David began to run their old farm. As time went on, he and his wife Cathy purchased the farm, and it grew from 80 cows to the nearly 700 they have now.

Cows: 680 milking

Production: The farm produces over 15 million pounds of milk a year, and is expected to produce 1.4 million KWH (kilowatt-hours) of electricity a year.
