Dave is a graduate of Cornell University with a degree in animal science. He began his career at CVPS working primarily on farm energy efficiency, and helped hundreds of farms reduce costs and improve the bottom line. Dave also holds a patent on SmartDrive, a variable speed pump control that can significantly reduce power costs for milking, which won the Governor's Award for Excellence in 2001.

He led the team that developed CVPS Cow Power^TM and the CVPS Renewable Development Fund which, through grants, is focused on developing new renewable energy systems on farms in Vermont.
