CVPS unveiled its 50-kilowatt solar project and renewable education center in our
hometown of Rutland in June of 2010.
The 264-panel array is just steps away from our Rutland Service Center and along
one of Vermont’s busiest highways, Route
7. The solar array and 80-year-old Glen Station, a hydro facility that sits across
the road, together form a working classroom for students and others interested in
homegrown, emission-free energy. CVPS worked with the Stafford Technical Center,
a school near our headquarters, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical
Workers Local 300 to build the solar project. Stafford students worked with professional
solar installers and CVPS employees, and helped with landscaping and forestry, building
design and construction.
Self-directed tours are available at the new education center, which includes a walking path throughout
the panels, with educational displays that outline all of CVPS's clean energy efforts.
