Vermont Urban and Community Forestry: In Vermont, assistance in the urban and community forestry is provided by the Urban and Community Forestry (UCF) Program. The program's mission is "To promote the stewardship of urban and rural landscapes to enhance the quality of life in Vermont communities." It is guided by a 20-member Advisory Council and the program staff and includes a program coordinator, five district urban and community foresters and a community involvement coordinator.
The Tree Benefit Calculator: The Tree Benefit Calculator allows anyone to make a simple estimation of the benefits individual street-side trees provide. This tool is based on i-Tree’s street tree assessment tool called STRATUM. With inputs of location, species and tree size, users will get an understanding of the environmental and economic value trees provide on an annual basis.
University of Vermont Extension:
Located throughout the state, University of Vermont Extension links people to UVM
and provides timely, research-based information and education to educate individuals
and families, strengthen communities, and support agriculture and the environment.
National Wild Turkey Federation:
The NWTF is a grassroots, nonprofit organization with 545,000 members in 50 states,
Canada, Mexico and 14 other foreign countries. It supports scientific wildlife management
on public, private and corporate lands as well as wild turkey hunting as a traditional
North American sport.
USDA Forest Service: An agency
of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Forest Service manages public lands in
national forests and grasslands, which encompass 193 million acres.
Vermont Department of Forests and Parks:
Responsible for the conservation and management of Vermont’s forest resources,
the operation and maintenance of the state park system, and the promotion and support
of outdoor recreation for Vermonters and our visitors.
International Society of
Arboriculture: A worldwide professional organization dedicated to fostering
a greater appreciation for trees and promoting research, technology, and the professional
practice of arboriculture.
National Arbor Day Foundation:
Inspiring people around the world to plant, nurture and celebrate trees.
Tree Care Industry
Association: Formerly the National Arborist Association, TCIA is a trade
association of more than 2,000 commercial tree care firms and affiliated companies.
