Budget Billing: CVPS Even Monthly Payment plan (EMP)
CVPS's EMP plan can remove the ups and downs of your monthly electric bill - enabling you to budget your payment well ahead of the due date.
Because your electric use can vary month to month, your electric bill varies too. Although EMP will not change your total cost, the plan allows you to "even out" those fluctuations that may occur each month.
How does the EMP plan work?
CVPS will take the average of your last 12 bills and calculate your EMP amount. If you have not accumulated 12 bills, or have made changes to your home that may affect your monthly electric usage, one of our customer service representatives will work with you to estimate your EMP amount.
Will my payments always stay the same?
In the first budget year, CVPS will review your account on the fourth and eighth month to assure the amount you are paying keeps pace with your electric use. If your usage should change, we may need to adjust your even monthly plan amount and you would be notified of the change by letter. After the first year, we will continue to review your account on the fourth and eighth month and would send a letter recommending changes so that your EMP amount keeps pace with your electric use however, you would have the option to continue paying the same amount until the account reconciles at the end of your budget year.
What happens at the end of a year?
At the end of your budget plan year, you would have the option to pay any remaining balance in full or pay a minimum of $50.00 and roll the remainder into the next budget year. Your even monthly plan payment would be adjusted accordingly. If you have a credit balance at the end of your budget plan year of more than $5.00, you would receive a check by mail. Credits less than $5.00 would be applied toward your budget plan for the following year and a new EMP amount would be established.
Is there a charge for the EMP plan?
There is no charge for being on the EMP Plan. Your annual electric costs are the same whether you are on the plan or not.
What will my EMP look like?
Your monthly statement will show two bill amounts, the actual cost of the electricity used during the billing period and the amount you should pay under the EMP plan.
Can I leave the EMP plan at any time?
If you decide the EMP Plan is not right for you, you can choose to drop out of the plan at any time. However, once you are removed from the plan, you may be required to wait 12 months before being reinstated. When you leave the plan, the balance on your account becomes due. If your account shows a credit, you can request a refund.
Who is eligible to join the EMP plan?
If you are a farm, general service or year-round residential customer on Rate 1, 2, 8, 9, 11, or 13, you may be eligible.
